Trying Something New

I like to try new things, to put myself in new situations, to taste new foods, to adventure in new places, to talk to new people.  I LOVE the world and the people in it.  There is so much beauty everywhere and I want a piece of all of it.

Anyway....I digress.

This week my new adventure is the Grand Canyon.

It's something I've only ever seen from the window of an airplane where it just looks like a giant crack, like someone dropped a giant bowling ball on a piece of giant tile.  But this time it'll be a bit more personal.  I like personal.  I'm going to get Grand Canyon dirt between my toes.  I'm going to smell Grand Canyon trees and touch Grand Canyon rocks.  As it happens, I'm there right now (ah, the beauty of scheduling a post), and I'm sure I'm loving it.  If you haven't caught on yet, I LOVE the outside spaces.  Mayhaps my next post will be about my adventure.

Anyone else out there like to adventure, whether physically or otherwise?  Any favorite New Things you want to share?? I'm always looking for ideas. :)

  1. I love the beauty and majesty of the Grand Canyon and I hope you are having a blast!

When I was on my trip a couple of weeks ago there were many new experiences for me. Some were wonderful and some were not. The beauty of those experiences - both the good and the bad - is that I had answers to some questions. I know now, moving forward, some things I like and some that I don't.

If we don't try new things, gain new experiences, and go new places, we just stay stagnant. I don't like that at all! I want to live, I want to cherish life, but more importantly I want to love the life I live; and I cannot do that staying stationary and holding still.

I don't think I'm making any sense but I hope you had fun and experienced many new, wonderful things!

    1. You're making total sense. :) I'm with you. There is so much to see and experience out there, and loving the life I live means doing what I love! And yes, the Grand Canyon was so beautiful. I never get tired of the beauties the earth has to offer.

  3. OMG. AMAZING!!!!!
I love trying new things, venturing to new places, seeing new people.
I agree with MJ that we MUST try new things lest we remain stagnant.
Wish I could have been there with you. I love a good hike. Did you hike all the way into the canyon?

  4. Reading some of your older posts.

I worked as a river guide in the Grand Canyon for over 20 years. Yeah, it is an awsome place. One of my favorite memories is when we came off an end of season trip and most of the guides were still lit from the night before and where being rude and crude. Another company was taking off at the same time and all of a sudden one of their guides (female of course) shouted at us "You're the reason I'm a dyke!" Well it got our attention and the whole beach just started laughing, including the guide who made the pronouncemnt. We all went out to eat together as soon as we reached civilization. This was maybe 15 years ago.
