Fish Sticks

So, at Arby's we have these disgusting fish sandwhiches. Before the fish I went home from work reeking of grease pit already. Now I leave smelling like an east-coast grease pit on the harbor of an oceanic tuna mine.

What I'm trying to say is, it's nasty. I swear Addie puked one time after I got home and she gave me a nice hug then swiftly left for the bathroom. She denies it. But I smell bad.

So, I'm thinking, maybe I need a new job...one that doesn't make my girlfriend throw up--literally (unless she's really telling the truth...then I suppose it's only figuratively).

What can I do? I have no skills. Learned not-a-damn-thing in college--marketably speaking, of course.

I have this secret little dream of one day owning a raw-food cafe. Fresh everything grown right at the back of my shop in a beautiful greenhouse...

But let's face it, that's not a job. I'd make more money working at the fish shack.

Rybread Wisdom: Don't go to college. The stuff you learn there isn't worth the student loans you'll pay the rest of your entire fucking life with the money you make from working at Arby's. Or, maybe if you go to college, at least study something worthwhile. Like art history or geology.

  1. Art History is worthwhile?? Being an art history major myself I might beg to differ. Granted, I studied it because I love art, I love how it's the back door to learning everything about a culture/time/place...but studying it hasn't been financially profitable by any means. In my opinion, you should go to college for the love of learning, not because it's going to get you a killer job somewhere.

    But yeah...fish shack?? Gross.

    1. I'm just saying, don't go to college if you think you're going to either A. save the world, or B. make a shit load of money with the degree you earned. Go because you want to learn something--go because you think art is beautiful and you want to learn about it; go because you think rocks are fascinating and you want to figure out how they're formed. I majored in public health. That got me nowhere. Shit, I could have studied writing or something worth my time.

    2. just so you know, I thought I was doing option A. going into public health. Then I learned that public health is just another piece of property in the game of Monopoly. Oh, and I don't make any money either.

  2. I'm a master student who is on his way to become a glorified cashier... As much as I don't want to agree, I kinda do... FML

    1. It's fucked-up. But, maybe I'm just bitter? I feel like I went blindly into college thinking I would end up saving the world and you know, living comfortably as I enjoyed my super-hero job. Now, I clog people's arteries by making them fish sandwhiches.

Maybe don't even go to college at all...not even for the learning aspect...but i can't say that either. I learned shit in college. I just wonder if you can't learn that other places just as well.

  3. I want to go into the Navy to learn, but to get in a good position I need to go to college. So I chose the easiest major. But I am actually learning crap and hopefully I'll be able to make money. Who knows :P I hope you have better luck in the job industry tho.

    1. Dupree, my instinct is to tell you NOT to go into the navy. But, I realized the reason I thought that was because my dad was in the navy. He was a bastard. And you seem so nice.

however, if the navy is calling your name then by all means go ahead!

  4. I went to college. For a while. I loved it. I learned a ton. I have few regrets about my education, but I studied something I loved. Seems like you thought you would love what you majored in...but, discovered something else. That happened to me, but not with my major. It had more to do with the university I chose...Anyway, I studied writing so I guess that's why I enjoyed my time (and spending someone else's *cough*the government's*cough*cough* money).

I worked at Arby's once though...I know what you mean about the grease pit smell. We never had fish stuff when I worked there though. ew. roast beef (or whatever it is) was already really bad.
